Secretary
Robert McGimpsey |
Robert is a Founder Member of
ELIBC, and has served several stints on the Management
Committee. He was Match Secretary from 1992 to 1997 and
again in the 2002/3.
He started bowling in 1970 at Elphinstone
, and has only won his championship once although he has been in
the final another five times. He had a brief spell playing
at Brunstane while the green at Elphinstone was being re-laid -
his name is on the board at Brunstane as champion. A winner of
the East Lothian Pairs title in 1981 (beating Willie Wood and
his partner in the final) he was a member of the squad that won
the Scottish Counties Championship in 1982 and was a skip in the
East Lothian sides that won the under 35 George Calder Trophy
from 1988 to 1992.
Indoor, he represented Midlothian and Edinburgh in the
Scottish League and at under 35 level. Most success came
at ELIBC though; he was a member of the team that won the
Headwell Team Championship in 1994 and was also in the team that
won the Scottish League Cup in the same year. He was a
regular first choice pick for the team from 1994 to 2000, when
he decided to call it a day. During that time the team
contested and unfortunately lost 4 further finals (2 in each of
the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup).
However, his greatest achievement came in 1992 when, as part
of the triple with Adam and Graham Robertson, he won the
National Triples Title. There was icing on the cake two
months later when they added the British Title to their haul.
He no longer plays the outdoor version of the game having
just recently taken up golf, which he prefers to play during the
summer months. |
Treasurer
Scott Kennedy |
Scott has been a member of ELIBC
since joining as a junior and is undoubtedly one of the several
success stories to come out of the Club's youth programme.
A
Senior Audit Assistant with the local Council he has lived in
Tranent for over 2 years having previously lived in West Barns.
He is currently a member of Tranent Bowling Club. He has
enjoyed success in the outdoor game having been County Champion
at the Junior Singles, Singles and Pairs events. He is
also a regular in the East Lothian County Championship side.
He is slightly more successful indoors, having captured
National Titles in the Triples and Fours events and has been a
Scottish International player since 2001. |
